Le Musée du Fort

For anyone interested in the history of Québec (and for that matter, the history of Canada) should visit le Musée du Fort where they tell a very concise and interesting summary of the battles that took place on Québec soil in the 1600s and 1700s, culminating with the loss of Québec by the French to the English.

Le musée is unique in that it tells the story through une maquette, a model built to reenact the battle scenes complete with lights, smoke and miniature soldiers, canons and ships.  The room is dark to optimize the effects, but here are some photos which set the scene...






 Here is a monument to the death of General Montcalm (on the French side).
